AhaBulb: Stuff Everyone Should Know · ahabulb.com/es-derecha
A clerk points and says, 'Ahí a la derecha.' Which way do you go?
A la derecha means to the right.
- To the right ✔
- To the left
- Straight ahead
Why: Derecha is right and izquierda is left. Ahí means 'there'. Straight ahead is adelante, so Ahí adelante points forward.
Huh, didn't know that: In Spanish, derecho (masculine) can also mean straight ahead.
My GPS said 'a la derecha' and I still turned left. Now we both need directions.
